A giant atom with modulated transition frequency

چکیده
Giant atoms are known for the frequency-dependent spontaneous emission and associated interference effects. In this paper, we study dynamics of a two-level giant atom with dynamically modulated transition frequency. It is shown that retarded feedback effect giant-atom system greatly modified by dynamical phase arising from frequency modulation retardation itself. Interestingly, such modification can in turn suppress behaves like small one. By introducing an additional difference between two atom-waveguide coupling paths, also demonstrate possibility realizing chiral tunable temporal profiles output fields. The results paper have potential applications quantum information processing network engineering.

Ideal mean-field transition in a modulated cold atom system.
We show that an atomic system in a periodically modulated optical trap displays an ideal mean-field symmetry-breaking transition. The symmetry is broken with respect to time translation by the modulation period. We describe experimental observations and develop a full microscopic theory of the observed critical phenomena. The transition is explained as resulting from the interplay of the long-r...
متن کاملAtom Optics with Giant Quantum Reflection From a Solid Surface
Quantum reflection of an atomic wave from a solid surface is caused by the attractive van der Waals force acting on the atom near the surface. The researchers had previously verified the quantum reflection of a cold neon atomic beam from a silicon surface. In this research they demonstrate the first known reflective atom-optical elements that use natural interaction of a solid surface, or attra...
متن کاملDesigning frequency-dependent relaxation rates and Lamb shifts for a giant artificial atom
In traditional quantum optics, where the interaction between atoms and light at optical frequencies is studied, the atoms can be approximated as pointlike when compared to the wavelength of light. So far, this relation has also been true for artificial atoms made out of superconducting circuits or quantum dots, interacting with microwave radiation. However, recent and ongoing experiments using ...

متن کاملExperimental investigation of optical atom traps with a frequency jump
We study the evolution of a trapped atomic cloud subject to a trapping frequency jump for two cases: stationary and moving centre of mass. In the first case, the frequency jump initiates oscillations in the cloud’s momentum and size. At certain times we find the temperature is significantly reduced. When the oscillation amplitude becomes large enough, local density increases induced by the anha...
